This past weekend was a blast. Youth mini golf was a huge success. Apparantly if you mention golf, it gets a bunch of the guys out, which in turn gets a bunch of the girls out. I realized how much I miss the driving range and how every year I say I'm going to go up to the Tob to hit a basket every week, but only go once the whole summer. I don't want to say that this year things will be different, because it probably won't be.

Saturday was Dr. Julie and Grahamburger's wedding. Unbeeeelieeeevabley beautiful ceremony. The music was...just...so perfect. So centred around Christ - which a wedding should be - and just plain FUN. They busted out a red honky-tonk keyboard. I think I may have drooled a little. Everyone looked gorgeous. I got to play with babies for the whole reception, and then the babies went home or fell asleep so we got to DANCE. Not serious dancing, but crazy grade 7/8 dance party dance. I've never really been to a wedding dance before, so it was a blast. Ridiculous amounts of fun!

Today I designed a t-shirt for Adam Padfield:
This week looks like it's going to be a good one, too. Kindergarten on Monday. No grade six on Tuesday, which means time to make jewellery for people. WONDERLAND! on Wednesday! Kindergarten graduation on Thursday, followed by Nancy Drew, Padfield and The Runaway concert. Mom day on Friday. And then hopefully another good weekend. It's my last in Waterloo before the lake.

I've had such an awesome past two months that I'm actually dreading the cottage. I don't know what the new employees are like - hopefully better than last year's - and Susan is back. Oh Susan. I'm looking forward to working with Chrrrrrl, Doods, Kristen and Spencey again...we shall have fun. I have mixed feelings about this whole deal. Ahh why does it have to be so far away (and with limited internet access)?

Mommies, Musings and Marigolds

I love my Mommy. I joke about my mother quite a bit (she is rather kooky), but the truth is I worry about her more often than I should. She's precious and fragile and wonderful and so dang cute. I really love her...it's true. And she knows it.

I went to two church services and saw a total of ten families (including my surrogate children) dedicating their kids to Christ. That was a giant warm and fuzzy.

On a completely different note, I love when youth events go from piles of "junk" (PVC pipe, cardboard, tubes) to crazy indoor mini putt holes and an outdoor one. And people walking around on the roof. I love how creative everyone gets with stuff like that. And I also love when creativity takes a wrong turn and what began as a completely innocent endeavour, ends up being completely ridiculous. Like that one time the guys at youth baked and decorated a cake. Well, it WAS the boy's team cake. I guess it was only natural. Ask Goo to see a picture of the..."camel".

Things I did this weekend:
-made a pleated skirt out of newspaper
-pretended to be a fashion model
-hung out in a tattoo parlour
-got a hole punched in my head
-exposed the Leb to gluten free pizza
-watched craploads of movies
-got a tiny bit SUNBURNT!!!
-napped in the sun
-watched craploads of Gilmore Girls!
-ate a banana popsicle
-spent loads of time in the glorious sunshine...

Movies I watched this weekend:
-The Brain That Wouldn't Die
-Indiana Jones and the Raiders of the Lost Arc
-Indiana Jones and the Temple of Doom
-Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade (ok, so we had a marathon)
-Singin in the Rain
-RENT
-part of West Side Story
-West Bank Story (ok, seriously check out part one and part two- VERY funny)
-four or five episodes of Gilmore Girls. I love that show.

Things I plan to do with my summer:
-sew
-cook
-bead
-knit
-sell things at Jerry's coffee shop in Ferndale
-hang out in Guelph more
-watch more Gilmore Girls
-more improv!
-road trip to Ottawa (yay!)
-get half decent with my guitar again

Dodgeriffic

I pulled a wicked late night/early morning on Thursday to finish my LAST ASSIGNMENT(!!!!) of the semester a few days early. The lack of sleep was worth it because it left me free to experience a wonderful weekend...
Friday afternoon Kristi and I went searching for my husband at Starbucks, but to no avail. He wasn't working. I'm becoming a Starbucks junkie and it scares me a little. I don't think I can afford five bucks for a coffee...it seems so extravagent. But soo so so good.

Friday night was the long awaited Waterloo-wide church Dodgeball tournament. I love the perks of being a leader - I get to go to the best events, but I don't have to participate fully if I don't want to because, well, I'm a leader. Kristi and I donned our Dora the Explorer sweaters once again and commentated the whole evening. My favourite lines from Kristi (all in a British accent, of course): "It looks as though the ball is in his court. Well, all the balls, rather." And then there was some line about how it raining candy was better than raining men. The youth were amazing, as usual, and everyone had a ton of fun. Oh look! Pictures! (definitely stole these from Caleb):

"If you can dodge a wrench...you can dodge a ball..."

Team that won "most enthusiastic" and "best dressed" These guys were so loud and fantastic!

We're so Vogue. Well, Beany and Goo are, I'm just a little shocked.

Spectators!

Today was my very first Sap Fest, and it was pretty great. The whole thing was very gluten-intensive, so my food options were limited, but I managed to survive off of pickle on a stick. I didn't see too many people I knew, which was surprising, but we saw some crazy moustaches and a lady whos coat matched her dog. Saw a bunch of guys from band class too. We got to go on a tractor ride, mostly to amuse Steve. Fun, nonetheless. I will post pickle pictures soon. The rest of the day was spent in a half-asleep state, celebrating Em's birthday. I look forward to sleep, and lots of it.

This post turned into a beast of a blog, but it had pictures so it was worth it.

Tales of Unrelient A and the Rollarskating Gypsies

Normally I try to stay away from "thisiswhatIdidthisweekend" blogs, but honestly, mine was too crazy not to blog.

This past week was a rather stupid one - papers, 4am mornings, unsigned course waivers - so an eventful weekend was in order. The weekend started a day early, what with the Tyler Schwende Band playing in the Last Band Standing competition at Wilf's and all. The boys played splendidly, and came away with a first prize trophy. Um, wait, I don't think there was a trophy. Medals, perhaps?? They were up against some stiff competition, and I now have another new band to add to the list of bands that you must check out: Will Currie and the Country French. Go listen to their stuff. Now. It's fun and fantastic and they had a tambourine, which scores points with me.

Friday was a youth event which involved eating mystery flavours of baby food, and airbands. I don't care who you are, everyone always has a good time doing airbands. Our group (Unrelient A) did a rendition of Sadie Hawkins Dance. And yes, there were kahki pants. And boys in dresses. I played the broom. There was a fine display of hip shaking from all the guys in the other band, and some wicked metallic power ranger-esque outfits. Apparantly there ain't no mountain high enough to keep Caleb away from skin tight snakeskin pants.

Speaking of too-tight snakeskin pants, it was Caleb's 24th birthday bash on Saturday. A whole crew of us made our way over to the Village of Value on Hespler Rd, dressed each other up, and then took our cute little booties over to the rollarama. With Coffey in snakeskin, Gregoire in sequins, Enes in pink princess sweats, and Luke S. in a purple (or shall I say, light mauve) warm-up suit and a ponytail, we made quite the scene at the rollar rink. I give myself and Krispy an honorable mention for finding matching Dora the Explorer (ExploraH) velour zip up pink sweaters and our matching side ponytails and hot pink lipstick. Pam's cougar outfit was smashing as well. Heck, everyone looked pretty ridiculous and it was wonderful.

Sunday Kerry read a children's book in church, some kids did some announcements, I made faces at a baby and then UCF planned our trip to Califloridawii. Since it was sunny, D and I celebrated with TCBY, and we had our first BBQ at home. Mmmm BBQ.

I smell springtime, and it smells mighty fine. Hooray for flowers coming soon. Just the thought makes me smile....ooh Mandie loves flowers.
