About Me

Oh hello.
I'm glad you decided to stop by, internet neighbour. I am Amanda. Some friends call me Mandie. My family calls me Tootie. Some kids I know call me Smashy.

Never underestimate the power of a poncho.
I'm in my early 20s and I still live at home with my parents and their evil dog because it makes financial sense at this point in my life. They provide me with endless amounts of entertainment. When I feel lame for still living at home, I call them my housemates. I have two older brothers who live nearby. They are both married to nurses. I am a ridiculously proud and crazy aunt to one niece, one nephew and one fetus. Sometimes it feels like my life is a really bizarre sitcom.

My secret ambition is to be a rockstar or the world's first ever sit-down comedian. I am on an improv team based in Guelph, called Players Without Strings. I love to cook, bake, talk, sing, dance, ask questions, play my piano, knit, create, decorate, write lists and take an obnoxious amount of pictures. I love anything that will make me laugh. I've been told that I am a combination of a tiny child and a senior citizen in a young woman's body. Tiny children and senior citizens usually enjoy my company. I can't eat gluten but five year olds think I'm cool. I also like to use conjunctions to combine sentences that are completely unrelated.

I am a huge fan of Jesus and I live to love extravagantly like he did. I'm usually pretty horrible at this, but I know part of following Jesus is being able to admit that you're going to suck at it. Following Jesus means waking up every morning and letting yourself be wooed by an irresistible lover. It means continually giving up everything you want for the sake of that love. It's a crazy journey, but one that keeps me delighted and fulfilled every day. I'm involved in a stellar church community full of some quality people. I love that I don't have to go at this alone.

In university I started blogging as a new means of procrastination. I have obtained two fancy degrees since I started and write about crap that I think is cool. I write for both comedic and therapeutic purposes. I have a bad habit of writing posts, leaving them for a few days, and then deleting them. I can be accused of using too many commas and sometimes my tenses aren't consistent. I love comments so if you read a post leave me a little note. I promise it's not creepy.

Welcome to my blog.

I really enjoy your blog. Creepy or not.
i like the about me cause i too will string together a sentence using as many conjunctions as i can, half-way, explain a use for them. but why are we considering a dandelion, except for a cool latin name (Taraxacum officinale) not much to discuss unless we talk about how they are from europe and asia and came over when the first settlers arrived. native people traded with this plant (since it had medical properties) and now the plant has spread almost; weather permitting of course, to most of the continent. well nice blog gotta keep trying to get ppl from their vaugebooking ways lol
You are super cool. That's really all I have to say because you know the rest, a tale of victory and candy-cane flavored fear that is overcome by being awesome in awesometown.
"I can't eat gluten but five year olds think I'm cool." I read that line and paused, trying to figure out what the connection was. You got me:)
