I'm totally ripping off Kerry, but I'm going to do it anyway. Neener neener boo boo. Here are my top five albums of 2007 (in no particular order):

Big Eye Little Eye - The Golden Dogs
If you've never heard these guys, then you're missing out. If you've never seen them live, then you're missing out even more. There is so much energy in this album, it is sometimes overwhelming. Suitable for car listening or when you need a pick-me-up.
Songs to check out: "Strong" or "Dynamo"

Girls and Boys - Ingrid Michaelson
Chill and mellow, but still upbeat enough to listen to in the car in the early morning. Her lyrics are clever and chock full of wicked metaphors which makes for good, solid girly music (without being wussy).
Songs to check out: "The Way I Am", "December Baby", "Far Away" or "Breakable" oh heck, just listen to them all

Well You - Ivy Mairi
No one has ever heard of her, and it's a shame. I can't get enough of her voice. It's slightly quirky and very mellow. Extremely mellow. Definitely not car music, but it is great for studying, jewelery making, or sleepy time.
Songs to check out: "The Rest of My Life", "Daffodil", "If You're Going Where I'm Going"

Five Score and Seven Years Ago - Relient K
Do I need to explain this one? RK is like fine wine or stinky cheese - they only get better with age.
Songs to check out: "Must Have Done Something Right" (killer bass line), "I Need You" (dissonant chords? Fabulous)

Illinoise - Sufjan Stevens
I love this man. He is a genius. I don't want to buy another one of his albums because I'm not finished listening to this one yet. The way to my heart is with a banjo (no Jesse Dyck jokes, please)
Songs to check out: "Chicago"

Honorable Mentions (there are a ton of these and I can't narrow the list):

Greatest Hits - Beach Boys
Chase This Light - Jimmy Eat World (this is STELLAR)
The Reminder - Feist (this would have made the top five, but I only got it a few weeks ago)
Everything in Transit - Jack's Mannequin (reminds me of the summer)
Destination Unknown - Adam Padfield (this has gotten SERIOUS play in our house...thanks Mom)
Winter in June - Project (flute beatboxer with an upright bass player and cello)
Zombies! Aliens! Vampires! Dinosaurs! - hellogoodbye
Ben Folds - Songs for Silverman
In Reverie - Saves the Day
In Our Bedroom After the War - Stars
Eye to the Telescope - KT Tunstall
